About Sunflower House
Sunflower House is a warm, nurturing and child-centred residential home providing
high-quality care and accommodation to young people aged 8-17. We support children with a range of complex needs, including emotional and behavioural difficulties, developmental, trauma, attachment difficulties, experiences of abuse and neglect, and other vulnerabilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new children's home and play a key role in
shaping its culture, ethos, and future. As part of our founding team, you will help build a
safe, therapeutic and nurturing environment where children can truly thrive.
The Role
We are seeking compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Residential Childcare Workers to
join our growing team. You will play a vital role in providing consistent, therapeutic care to
help young people feel safe, valued, and supported to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality day-to-day care in line with individual care plans, risk assessments,
and regulatory requirements
- Build trusting, nurturing relationships using the PACE model
- Support young people with education, life skills, health needs and emotional development
- Promote and facilitate family contact in line with care plans
- Plan and participate in activities that support enjoyment, achievement and wellbeing
- Maintain safeguarding vigilance at all times
- De-escalate challenging situations using CPI/behaviour-management training
- Work as part of a supportive team and attend regular supervision, training and
development sessions
- Promote children's rights, wishes and feelings in accordance with the Regulations
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
- A caring, child-centred attitude
- Resilience, patience and emotional stability
- Good communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and equality
Desirable:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards this)
- Experience supporting children with emotional/behavioural difficulties
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience using trauma-informed approaches
