Job Overview

As a Residential Childcare Worker you will provide high-quality, consistent care and therapeutic support to children and young people living in a residential setting, many of whom may have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or other adverse childhood experiences. This role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing environment that promotes healing, emotional well-being, and long-term positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Care and Supervision

Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support tailored to individual needs, development levels, and care plans. Promote and model positive routines, boundaries, and healthy relationships. Support with daily tasks such as meals, personal hygiene, homework, and recreational activities.

Therapeutic Support

Apply trauma-informed approaches and therapeutic techniques as guided by the clinical team and individual therapeutic plans. Work collaboratively with therapists, social workers, and other professionals to implement therapeutic strategies in day-to-day interactions. Provide emotional support to children, helping them to express feelings and develop coping strategies.

Safeguarding and Safety

Maintain a safe and secure environment, identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns in line with policy and procedure. Follow risk assessments and behaviour support plans, using de-escalation and positive behaviour support strategies.

Documentation and Planning

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records including daily logs, incident reports, and progress notes. Contribute to care planning, reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings.

Teamwork and Professional Development

Work collaboratively within a team, attending handovers, team meetings, and training. Engage in regular supervision and reflective practice. Uphold professional boundaries and ethical standards in all interactions.
Shifts are 24 Hours - 1 day on 3 days off
