Post Title: Residential Child Care Worker

Place: Short term placement based in a therapeutic environment surrounded by various animals within our Applecast visitors centre. Staff work on a two to one shift with sleep in's and waking nights. Sleeping paid at 60

Responsible to: Registered Manager and Responsible Individual.

Responsible for: As part of the care team, to consistently provide a high-quality experience for children and young people, and to maintain a high standard of individual practice consistent with Lakeview Lodge's expectations.

1. Overall Responsibilities



1.1. To safeguard and promote the welfare of each child or young person in our care.

1.2. To play a role in the establishment, maintenance and development of a safe
environment, providing young people with a welcoming, calm and relaxed group
living experience to promote emotional health and well-being.

1.3. To undertake keyworker duties as delegated by the Registered Manager.

1.4. To work in such a way that you meet Lakeview Lodge's philosophy, ethos, policies
and procedures and follow the home's Statement of Purpose.

1.5. To be actively involved in care planning and participating in the homes activity and
social programme. To encourage the children and young people to engage in
constructive leisure and educational pursuits to support positive outcomes.

1.6. To respect and maintain the confidential nature of the work.

2.

Young People



2.1. To establish positive relationships with the children and young people based on
confidence, trust, understanding and mutual respect, presenting as a good role
model for all young people and staff.

2.2. To ensure that children and young people are involved in the care planning process
and that their views, wishes and feelings are considered, recorded and their
feedback is shared. To adhere to the individual child/ young person's agreed
placement plan at all times.

2.3. To encourage the children and young people to maintain socially acceptable
standards of behaviour following Policies and Procedures and other guidelines for
staff and to adhere to the individual child/ young person's positive behaviour plan
and all risk assessments.

2.4. To provide personalised care that meets each child's/ young person's needs
including their physical care, social and emotional needs and taking into account
each child's/ young person's background and culture.

2.5. To support children and young people to achieve education attendance and attend
medical appointments as necessary and to follow their individual education and
care plans.

2.6. To provide the children and young people with support and advice to promote their health and well-being.

2.7. To support children and young people to care for their personal spaces and encourage them to contribute to the daily living tasks in the home.

2.8. To be responsible for the protection and safeguarding of each child or young person in line with their individual care plan, positive behaviour plan and risk assessments, supporting each child to keep themselves safe.

2.9. To be responsible as a keyworker to deliver keywork sessions, report writing and implementing and contributing to individual care and positive behaviour plans.
2.10. To liaise and collaborate positively with parents and partner agencies to ensure that the best interests of the children and young people are respected and promoted at all times.

2.11. Lakeview Lodge is committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of
all children and young people in our care. All staff have a key role and responsibility to
report all safeguarding concerns and follow the homes safeguarding policy.

3. Staff Group



3.1. To participate in the homes staff development programme.

3.2. To attend and participate in staff meetings as appropriate.

3.3. To attend and participate in all mandatory training and be committed to engaging in all opportunities for continuous professional development.

3.4. To attend and participate in supervision and appraisal.

3.5. To be involved in the induction and initial support of new staff members.

3.6. To contribute to the continued development of the home.

3.7. To support the Charity in other disciplines if required.

4. Assessment, Recording and Reporting



4.1. To follow the homes policies and procedures to record young people's progress and development.

4.2. To ensure that that the daily recordings in the home are of a high standard, accurate, detailed and a reflection of the behaviour and presentation of the young people appropriately.

4.3. Contribute to reports as required.

4.4. To attend child care reviews and contribute to the assessment and care planning process.

5. Resources



5.1. To make effective and efficient use of the resources available within the home and to be aware of the resources provided by Lakeview Lodge and those within the local community.

5.2. To maintain the cleanliness, orderliness and smooth running of the home with effective use of resources.

6. General Duties



6.1. To perform any other reasonable tasks that the Registered Manager or their Deputy may ask of you from time to time.

6.2. To act as a driver and or escort transporting young people to and from school, on activities, visits and contact or other journeys as may be required.

6.3. To perform sleep-in duties or waking nights as required.

7. Safeguarding



7.1. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure check (DBS).

As part of the selection process we will undertake checks to ensure that you do not pose a risk of harm to the children and young people.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to safeguarding children and young people and promoting the welfare of children in accordance with the agreed Child Protection Policy for the home.
Any issues or concerns are reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy
safeguarding Lead, in their absence it would be reported to the most senior member of staff on duty and the on call Manager.
