Residential Child Care Worker



Vesta Children's Services are a exciting company coming to the market and we are looking for caring and compasionate people who wantr to make a difference in the lives of children and young people we look after.

As a company we feel that the well being of the staff team is of great importance so that they are able provide the children we look after the best possible care. Due to this belief we will be providing all staff members with monthly therapeutic supervision with the companies qualified and experienced therapist.

Purpose of the Role:



As a Children's Residential Care Worker, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day care and support of the children and young people living in our home. You will work as part of a dedicated team to create a positive and stable environment where young people feel safe, valued, and encouraged. You will build positive relationships with the children, understand their individual needs, and contribute to their personal development.

Key Responsibilities:



Providing Direct Care and Support:



Building positive and trusting relationships with the children and young people. Assisting with all aspects of their daily lives, including personal care, hygiene, dressing, and mealtimes. Providing emotional support, guidance, and a listening ear. Ensuring the children's physical and emotional well-being is met at all times. Promoting independence and life skills development. Organising and participating in a range of activities, both within and outside the home, that are age-appropriate and meet the individual needs and interests of the children. Accompanying children to appointments (e.g., medical, dental, school meetings).

Safeguarding and Welfare:



Safeguarding the children and young people from harm and adhering to all safeguarding policies and procedures. Recognising and responding appropriately to any safeguarding concerns, reporting them in line with procedures. Promoting a safe and healthy environment within the home. Understanding and implementing risk assessments and behaviour management plans.

Working as Part of a Team:



Working collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to a positive and supportive team environment. Attending team meetings, handover sessions, and supervision. Communicating effectively with colleagues, managers, and other professionals (e.g., social workers, teachers, therapists). Contributing to the development and implementation of care plans.

Administration and Record Keeping:



Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, including daily logs, incident reports, and care plan updates. Following all policies and procedures of Vesta Children's Services Ltd.

Professional Development:



Participating in relevant training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. Keeping up-to-date with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in children's residential care. Reflecting on practice and identifying areas for improvement.

Person Specification:



Essential:



A genuine passion for working with children and young people and a commitment to their well-being. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. Resilience and the ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner. Good written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (desirable, depending on the needs of the home). Willingness to undertake relevant training, including mandatory training. Enhanced DBS check (to be undertaken upon successful appointment)
