Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Engage in fostering good relationships with other professionals and family members associated with Acedia Care, children, and young people and with the community in general.
To participate in building and maintaining a kind and open working culture .
To appropriately use positive behaviour management techniques to safely manage challenging behaviour displayed by the children and young people.
To abide by health and safety of the home.
Support the children and young people in their formal educational development by encouraging and ensuring attendance at school on a regular basis, ensuring they undertake necessary homework, and are supported at school meetings.
Assisting in addressing the health needs of children by supporting them where necessary to the doctors, opticians, dentists etc and promote a healthy lifestyle.
To plan and deliver activities for young people both internal and external.
To adhere to formal risk assessments and carry out on the spot risk assessments when required.
To comply with Regulations and Quality Standards as set by Ofsted.
To comply with all relevant legislation in relation to the care and protection of Children and Young People.
Assist in the practical running of the home and the preparation of nutritious meals for the children and young people.
Attending staff training events, supervision, internal meetings, and other meetings as required.
Undertake a recognised qualification relating to the role as directed by the company.
To be able to recognise the effects of stress on self and others and to make appropriate use of support systems.
To facilitate contact between young people and their families and other significant people in the community and within Acedia Care
To liaise with all emergency services as and when required.
To prepare and present written reports plans, risk assessments and general records in relation to the ongoing care of the children and young people.
To undertake child key worker responsibilities as outlined by the company.
To transport young people to meetings, contact, court etc as and when required
Assist in the social, emotional, and physical development of the children and young people, using appropriate behavioural techniques as agreed by all professionals.
Help to ensure that the wellbeing of the children is adequately attended to in respect of food, clothing and recreation.
Support children and young people in the completion of social/daily tasks.
To help young people adopt a positive outlook on life and a greater sense of self-worth and of the value of relationships with others, leading to improved outcomes.
Offer appropriate guidance and support to children and young people by ensuring that the standards set by the Manager are adhered to.
To attend and participate in meetings with young people at home and in the community.
To work waking nights
To use IT based systems.
To be prepared to go away on trips/holidays with young people when required.
Purchasing any goods or materials for the home as requested.
Any other relevant duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the Manager.
To drive company vehicle in accordance with the Highway Code.
