Description of Role:
As a
Trainee Deputy Manager
, you will support the Registered Manager and existing leadership team in the daily operational management of the home. This is a developmental role designed to equip you with the experience, skills, and confidence to progress into a Deputy Manager role. You will support the team in delivering high-quality therapeutic care, lead shifts, and contribute to the safeguarding, development, and emotional wellbeing of the children.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in Residential Children's Social Care with a minimum of one year, ideally in a senior or support worker role.
A strong desire to develop leadership skills and progress within the sector.
An understanding of Trauma Informed Care and therapeutic practice, or a willingness to train and develop knowledge in these areas.
Confidence to lead by example and support junior staff under the guidance of the senior leadership team.
A Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Residential Childcare or a willingness to complete this as part of your development.
A commitment to complete further leadership and management qualifications as part of the training programme.
UK Driving License.
Awareness of The Children's Home Regulations and all relevant safeguarding legislation, with a willingness to expand knowledge further.
A clear DBS and positive references from all roles involving children or vulnerable adults.
A calm, nurturing, and reflective approach when working with children, staff, and professionals.
Resilience and emotional strength to support children through challenging experiences in a therapeutic way.
Duties and Responsibilities Specific to the Post:
To support the Registered Manager and management team with the leadership and development of the home.
To undertake a structured learning plan that supports your development into a Deputy Manager role.
To lead shifts and support decision-making under supervision, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and staff.
To actively participate in management meetings and take on delegated responsibilities as agreed with the Registered Manager.
To support the home in meeting and exceeding the standards set out in the Children's Home Regulations 2015.
To model a therapeutic, attachment-based approach to care, and support staff to work in a trauma-informed way.
To support the team in building trusting, empathetic relationships with children and external professionals.
To contribute to reflective practice and the development of a strong, resilient team culture.
To assist with the planning and delivery of individualised care plans, activities, and routines.
To ensure that the children's physical, emotional, cultural, and behavioural needs are met consistently.
To support and monitor the completion of records, logs, and plans, ensuring they are of a high standard.
To help ensure compliance with all Health and Safety, medication, vehicle, and premises requirements.
To work within financial procedures and contribute to efficient resource management.
To uphold and promote Park Blue Ltd's values, policies, and therapeutic approach across all areas of work.
To actively engage in your personal development, supervision, and relevant training opportunities.
Note:
This post is non-residential. The post holder will be expected to participate in the management rota and may be required to provide out-of-hours support on occasion. A full manual driving licence is essential. You may be required to transport children to appointments, schools, family visits, or other engagements.
