Are you a detail-oriented and experienced legal secretary seeking to progress your career with a well-respected law firm? Join our specialist property team and play a crucial role in supporting our Residential Conveyancing department. We are looking for an organised, proactive individual passionate about delivering exceptional administrative and client support within residential property law.
Key Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive secretarial support to solicitors and fee earners in residential property transactions, including sales, purchases, transfers of equity, remortgage, and new build matters.
  • Managing the opening, closing, and archiving of client files in accordance with compliance requirements and firm procedures.
  • Drafting, formatting, and amending legal documentation, correspondence, contracts, and client care letters under supervision.
  • Coordinating the scheduling of meetings, appointments, and property completions for fee earners, clients, and all transaction stakeholders.
  • Undertaking administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, digital dictation, and maintaining up-to-date case management records.
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, Land Registry, and other third parties by telephone, email, and post, ensuring a professional and efficient experience.
  • Assisting with SDLT submissions, property registrations, and post-completion processes, ensuring timely compliance with legal deadlines.
  • Performing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and ID checks, file reviews, and document management in line with regulatory standards.
Essential Skills & Experience for Legal Secretaries in Residential Property
  • Proven secretarial or legal administrative experience within residential conveyancing or property law practice.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and time management skills, capable of managing varied workloads and priorities efficiently.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities with a commitment to delivering high-quality client service in a professional, approachable manner.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and experience using legal case management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy team environment.
  • Discretion, reliability, and integrity when handling sensitive information and client data.
  • Familiarity with compliance, SRA, and AML guidelines is highly advantageous.
