Residential Support Worker Children's Residential Home

Stourbridge, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you ready for a role where your care, creativity, and belief in every young person's potential truly matter?

We are looking for a warm, committed

Residential Support Worker

to join a children's home where we nurture young people with Learning Difficulties and additional complex needs.

In this role, you'll work directly with young people to support their growth through meaningful relationships, practical experiences, and care that honours their individuality.

Key Responsibilities

Support daily living in a therapeutic, caring environment that values the whole person -- body, mind, creativity, and sense of place. Help young people engage with practical skills, crafts, outdoor learning and creative tasks, to build confidence, emotional resilience, self-worth, and independence. Work in partnership with staff, families, and external professionals to deliver person-centred care plans tailored to each young person's uniqueness. Be present, attentive, and intentional: responding with patience, empathy, and respect to all young people, treating them with dignity. Contribute to a culture of safety, openness, goodwill, and mutual respect, where differences, diversity, and wellbeing are deeply valued.

Requirements

Experience in children's residential care, working directly with young people -- ideally 1-2 years. Relevant qualification, such as Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People (or equivalent). Understanding of safeguarding, behaviour support, and residential care standards. A desire to engage young people in practical, nature-based, creative, or craft-led approaches. Ability to build trusting relationships, adapt and respond to changing needs. Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

What We Offer

Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development, grounded in a therapeutic, practical skills educational approach. Supportive supervision, mentoring, and reflective practice. 28 days' annual leave (including Bank Holidays). Staff wellbeing support, including access to employee assistance programmes. Opportunities to engage with holistic, land-based, craft-and-nature influenced activities as part of the work. Staff benefits including discount schemes, referral bonuses, and a culture of collaborative working.
If you believe that every young person is unique, and that change happens through kindness, creativity, and meaningful experience--if you want to help young people feel safe, valued, and able to flourish in community--then we want to hear from you.
