Retail Assistant Greengrocers
Job Description
We are a busy and well-established greengrocers operating from Hebden Bridge, offering fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables across the Calder Valley. Due to growth and additional indoor retail stalls in Todmorden & Brighouse, we are looking for a retail assistant to join our team.
We have multiple part-time positions available.
Todmorden: 4 days a week - Wednesday to Saturday, 7am-4pm
Brighouse: 3 days a week - Wed, Sat and Sun, 7am-4pm
As a Retail Assistant, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our indoor greengrocers stall. Your responsibilities will include setting up and packing down the stall, stocking and rotating produce, serving customers, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The successful candidate will be able to provide excellent customer service.
The role involves some physical lifting of produce crates, basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables, cash handling and requires a friendly demeanour.

7am-4pm (approx), 3 or 4 days per week depending on locationYour daily responsibilities will be:
Set up and pack down the market stall each day. Unload deliveries and display fresh produce attractively. Serve customers efficiently and with a friendly attitude. Operate the till and handle cash/card transactions accurately. Monitor produce quality and remove any spoiled items. Assist with stock rotation and basic inventory. Keep the stall/shop area clean, tidy, and safe at all times. Answer customer questions about produce, pricing, and availability. Follow health and safety and food hygiene guidelines.
What you will need:
Previous retail or customer service experience (preferred but not essential). Punctual, dependable, and hardworking. Good level of physical fitness - able to lift produce crates and stand for long periods. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic numeracy and ability to handle cash. A positive attitude and approachable manner. To demonstrate reliability.
