JOB TITLE: Retail Assistant
12.21 per hour
The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom's national museum of arms and armour and one of the most important collections of its type in the world, housed at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Casual Retail Assistant to join the existing Retail team. Reporting to the Retail Store Manager the successful applicant will provide excellent customer service to our visitors during peak periods. Processing all sales politely, efficiently and accurately whilst engaging customers in our retail offers.
The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly, be an excellent communicator and have a passion and enthusiasm for our products.
Hours
13 hours per week, working Saturdays & Sundays.

Purpose
  • To deliver the highest level of customer service and optimize where possible the customer journey and enhance the customer experience
  • Generate revenue for the museum and protect the museums commercial interests
  • Process transactions accurately in line with the cash handling procedures
  • Proactively sell and promote all retail products incorporating add on sales where possible
  • To ensure that standards of cleanliness and health and safety are meet at all times
  • To receive deliveries in line with RA Goods In Policy, ensuring that all items are accounted for, quality is checked and shortages and damage are reported
  • Ensure the correct maintenance and storage of products and equipment
  • To proactively replenish stock and report any low running lines to the Retail Store Manager or Supervisor
  • To follow merchandising and display plans to ensure that merchandising standards are always maintained
  • To support the fulfilment of online and wholesale orders by preparing these for dispatch
  • To be vigilant and actively promote loss prevention activities
  • Actively promote alternative methods of purchase including online
  • To advise customers on their purchases and take every reasonable endeavour to familiarize yourself with the product range, including specifications and care instructions, as well as its relevance to the Royal Armouries collection
  • To be mindful of where age restrictions apply and follow relevant policies to ensure that only appropriate products are sold to customers
  • To assist with end of day processes when required
  • To participate in stock takes when required
  • To provide information and advice to the visitor by following the current RA customer standards policy
  • Identify and report security risks and potential hazards
  • To undertake any other tasks reasonably commensurate with the job role
