Role Purpose
Our new Beaumond House Hospice Care Charity Shop will be opening in October 2025. This exciting opportunity gives successful applicants the chance to make a real impact in helping to raise funds for our well-loved and supported local charity. The purpose of the role is to assist with the sorting, processing, rotation and merchandising of stock, display and sales, including using the till, registering donors for Gift Aid and processing their donations, assisting with cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment and working as part of a dynamic team. The role also includes working to maximise profits and to always promote the work of Beaumond House Hospice Care. This will be done in a manner which reflects the ethos of Beaumond House Hospice Care and always promotes good public relations for the Hospice.
Main Duties
To assist and support the Shop Manager with:
Legal Compliance & Security
To assist the retail team to ensure that the shop premises comply with Health and Safety legislation for staff, volunteers and customers
To assist the retail team to ensure that cash and valuable items are kept secure
To assist the retail team to ensure the shop is safe and secure during opening hours
Business Management
To assist the retail team to run the shop in a profitable and business-like manner
To assist the retail team to maximize sales of donated goods and price stock accordingly
To assist the retail team to maintain a high standard of visual merchandising in the windows and on the shop floor
To assist the retail team to ensure stock is appropriate to the business i.e. meets Health and Safety requirements
To maintain a rigorous process of stock rotation
To keep the sorting and storage areas clean and tidy and the stock in good order
Staffing
To assist with supporting volunteers in their roles
To assist in the communication of Beaumond House matters to volunteers
Administration
To sign up donors to our Gift Aid scheme following the correct procedures
To ensure Retail Gift Aid is administered and promoted effectively.
General Duties
Work collaboratively and cooperatively with Beaumond House colleagues
Respect confidentiality applying to all areas of Beaumond House
Work to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and Trading Standards Authority
Work within Beaumond House policies and procedures
Always behave in a professional manner, reflecting and maintaining Beaumond House values
Assist with the promotion of fundraising activities, including events and raffles
Be flexible within the broad remit of the post
Skills, Experience and Attributes Required
Retail experience either charity or high street store
A team player with good communication skills.
The ability to forge and maintain strong working relationships.
The ability to support, enable and engage with an outstanding team of volunteers
A proven track record of delivering outstanding customer service ideally within a retail environment.
A creative and positive attitude with the ability to turn challenges into opportunities.
A good understanding of pricing and marketing
The ability to display a range of donated goods effectively to maximise retail income
Ability to work under pressure in a physically demanding role.
A willingness to work flexibly across any of the Beaumond House shops
