Summary of role:



To assist the Retail Manager and other staff in the day to day running of the enterprise ensuring efficient operations and excellent customer service across all activities, alongside maximising sales and controlling costs.

Job Dimensions:



Contracted hours: 22.5 per week by agreement. Operating days: Monday to Sunday. (3 days on duty) Work closely alongside Companions, supporting them to deliver great customer service, and to implement safe working practices. Number of volunteers: 1 - 3

Key responsibilities:



Retail operations:



To adhere to stock control, pricing and rotation procedures, displaying of goods in the shop. Maintain a high standard of display, both externally and internally so they are eye catching and maximise sales. Achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness throughout the shop premises. Organise the delivery/collection areas and van loads. Provide the highest level of customer service to donors and customers. Follow all health and safety procedures, instruction and training always ensuring the shop is a safe environment that protects all staff, volunteers and the public. Actively encourage all donations into the shop. Report any maintenance or H&S issues in the shop to the Retail Manager. To manage the till effectively, cash up and maximise gift aid. Answer the telephone in a professional, friendly manner. Use social media to promote the retail operations and maximise sales

Companion and Volunteer Development:



To train, supervise and inspire volunteers and companions to provide excellent customer service.

Special Requirements:



The ability to lift and move heavy objects. Be responsible for shop keys and ensure the premises is secure when left unattended, you will also be required to attend alarm callouts should the alarm be triggered during out of hours. To lead by example by demonstrating appropriate behaviour, values, and culture and create a positive working environment. This includes complying with all policies and procedures and ensuring everyone is treated with respect. A requirement to learn and engage with the Emmaus ethos. To support solidarity activities undertaken by the Community. Emmaus South Wales is committed to sustainability and asks all employees to adopt strict controls around waste, to use resources efficiently, and to reduce the amount resources used daily. Any other duties as required, including additional duties and responsibilities to cover for holidays and absences. To attend meetings at other locations when required. Emmaus works with homeless, vulnerably housed and unemployed people. Because of this, all employees are subject to enhanced DBS checks.

Essential:

Ability to understand and maintain appropriate professional boundaries Quick learner and able to problem solve.

Desirable:



Experience of developing and supporting volunteers and/or service users. Digital marketing experience and interest An understanding of safeguarding.
