We're looking for someone who:
Has excellent communication and customer service skills
Is honest, reliable, and punctual
Can work well both independently and as part of a small team
Shows attention to detail and takes pride in keeping the store clean, presentable and fully faced-up.
Is comfortable with handling money and basic till operations (training provided)
(Preferred but not essential) Has previous experience in retail or convenience store settings
This role involves lone working, so candidates must be confident working independently and handling day-to-day shop operations on their own. The role also requires some heavy lifting and moving on a constant basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
Operate the till, handle cash and card payments accurately
Check customer ID and comply with legal age restrictions for alcohol and tobacco sales
Restock shelves and fridges, ensuring products are front-facing and well-presented
Receive and check deliveries
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the store
Report any suspicious activity, theft, or incidents to management
Open or close the shop (if required)
Requirements:
Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus but not essential
Strong communication skills and a polite, helpful attitude
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Basic math and till-handling skills
Must be over 18 due to age-restricted sales
Trustworthy, punctual, and able to work independently
Shift requirements:
Shifts are fixed as follows: every Monday 2.30pm-8.30pm, every Saturday 8.30am - 2.30pm, and alternate Sundays, as well as providing cover for other staff upon request, to be agreed in advance.
Ongoing training will be provided in customer service, product knowledge and store essentials such as food safety & hygiene, parcel service, Challenge 25 age verification and more
