Role Overview
Applications are invited for the position of Retail Assistant based at the Troon Ferry Terminal. On occasion there may be a requirement to work in the Ardrossan Ferry Terminal.
Principal Accountabilities
Reporting to the Port Manager, you will need a flexible approach to your day to day responsibilities.
Your Duties Will Include:
Attend to customer needs and be responsive to their requests
Provide a catering and retail service to a standard that enables the company to achieve its customer and business objectives
Adhere to the retail operations procedures, maintaining stocking policies and merchandise layout plans
Adhere to the company's cash control, stock control and security procedures
Understand and adhere to Food Hygiene practises and procedures, cleaning and maintaining the area involved to a high standard
Any other duties required by the Port Manager
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
Good understanding of the CalMac services
You must be computer literate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
You must be customer focused, have a clear understanding of the customer interface and have a proactive approach to customer care
You must be able to react to alterations to planned vessel operations, therefore you must be proactive and willing to take appropriate action to provide the required customer service ashore
The successful candidate must be able to commute to Troon Ferry Terminal on a daily basis
You are expected to have a flexible approach to working, as shift and weekend work will be involved
Ability to work with initiative as a self-starter, without supervision
Willingness to be a team player in a dynamic, proactive and fast-paced environment
Desirable Criteria
Previous customer service experience, including catering, would be advantageous
* Able to liaise with other retail staff to ensure that there is a high level of proactive communication and coordination of activity
