We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and customer-focused
General Shop Assistant
to join our team at a busy high street convenience store. The store offers a wide range of
ambient, fresh, and frozen food items
, and the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring an excellent shopping experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
Carry out operational requirements, including:
Replenishment of ambient, frozen and fresh goods
Preparation and cooking of hot food
Tilling and cash processes
Receiving goods-in
Date checks, reductions and waste management
Stock management
Cleaning
Customer Service
Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Provide assistance with product queries and locate items when necessary.
Operate the checkout, handle transactions, and process refunds accurately and efficiently.
Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained at all times.
Stock Management
Replenish shelves and displays with ambient, fresh, and frozen products.
Ensure products are rotated appropriately.
Check and report on expiry dates and product quality.
Assist with deliveries: unpacking, checking, and storing goods.
Store Standards & Cleanliness
Keep the store clean and tidy, including shelves, fridges, freezers, and checkout areas.
Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures.
Support regular deep cleaning routines and temperature checks for chilled and frozen items.
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with team members and management to meet store goals.
Support with opening and closing duties as required.
Attend team meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
