Retail Business Development Manager- 12 Month Contract

Hybrid working covering Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid-Wales

Salary \xc2\xa328,555 - \xc2\xa333,943 per annum dependant on experience plus benefits including car allowance.

37.5 Hours per week - Full Time

My client is a well-established, growing charity retailer. They currently have an exciting opportunity to join them in the position of Retail Business Development Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Retail, your role as Business Development Manager will be to support the implementation of the Retail strategy, driving a growth agenda and assisting the team in achieving objectives to generate new revenues and improve profitability.

A confident, outgoing and credible communicator, you will be driven, creative and comfortable with variety, able to engage with stakeholders and positively influence change.

You will be comfortable working to deadlines, flexible in your approach to working hours and times and be comfortable with regular travel around Shropshire, Cheshire and North and Mid Wales to deliver your objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify new shops in new locations and possible relocation opportunities, steering projects through the acquisition stage, fit out and opening.
  • Negotiate with landlords and agents to secure the best commercial terms
  • Work with Retail and Finance colleagues to produce proposals and business cases.
  • Project manage new shop openings, collaborating with Estates and Retail colleagues, and liaising with external contractors, local authorities, agents and solicitors.
  • Research and identify new retail markets, trends, and opportunities, including mobile retail solutions, pop up shops and event offerings.
  • Work with the Commercial Manager to develop the charities online retail presence through the online shop, eBay and other channels.
  • Think and work strategically, setting clear objectives and planning effectively.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to design and implement promotional campaigns and activities.
Experience required:
  • Commercial knowledge of the charity retail sector and how charity shops operate and run effectively.
  • Experience with acquisition, fit out and launch of new shops.
  • Experience with report writing and the production of business cases.
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Commercial flair and vision to continuously improve.
  • Knowledge of commercial leases and related terminology.
  • Understanding of compliance regulations and frameworks.
  • Ability to research and identify viable commercial opportunities.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Planning and organisational skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Certification or qualification in project management would be desirable.
