Hours:

Minimum average 30 hours per week (flexible, annualised option available)

Salary:

26,000 pro rata + annual performance bonus

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised

Retail Lead

to manage our on-site shop at Blackwell Court and support retail operations during peak seasons at Pikes Pool. You will take ownership of shop operations, staff coordination, stock, finances, and customer experience, while supporting other areas of the business during quieter periods, with the support of the Managment team at Blackwell, working under the Business Manager.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who has managed a small retail outlet and has knowladge on all aspects from purchasing stock with a varairty of suppliers, through to serving our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Shop Operations & Staffing

Manage day-to-day running of the onsite shop Plan and schedule shop cover at least one month in advance Maintain accurate staff timesheets and working hour records Communicate updates, priorities, and changes clearly to shop staff Train existing staff and recruit new shop assistants when required Ensure shop cover during school periods, including Tuesdays and Thursdays
Stock & Suppliers

Reorder stock including drinks, sweets, clothing, badges, and branded items Check deliveries against orders and update stock records Organise stockrooms and monitor best-before dates Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate best pricing Carry out stock audits when required
Finance & EPOS

Manage shop budgets including staffing, stock, and visual merchandising Cash handling, cashing up, floats, and end-of-shift reports Monitor sales, profit margins, and performance against targets Maintain EPOS system including stock levels, pricing, reports, and invoices
Visual Merchandising & Environment

Create an attractive, accessible shop layout Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment Maintain food hygiene standards and allergen signage Promote recycling and sustainability initiatives Maintain external shop areas, signage, flags, and seasonal displays
Sales, Marketing & Development

Develop new retail initiatives (e.g. birthday packs, personalised clothing) Identify and introduce new product ideas and trends Promote the shop via social media and customer databases Explore opportunities for an online shop Maximise retail opportunities during large camps and events
Large Camps & Events

Organise online pre-purchase systems for large events Coordinate staffing for busy periods Develop additional retail opportunities such as ice cream or themed stock
Other Duties

Support other areas of the business when shop demand is low Maintain a safe environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors Carry out other reasonable duties in line with the role
Skills & Experience

Essential:



Minimum 2 years' experience in retail or customer service Excellent communication and organisational skills High attention to detail and accuracy IT literate (Word, Excel, EPOS systems) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong time and workload management skills

Working Hours & Flexibility

Minimum average of

30 hours per week

Annualised hours option available

May-October:

37.5 hours per week

November-April:

22.5 hours per week Evening and weekend work required Time off in lieu may be offered; overtime not normally paid
