At Magic Memories, we help guests capture once-in-a-lifetime moments - and at Chester Zoo, one of the UK's most iconic wildlife attractions, we're looking for a Retail Manager who's ready to lead their team through the day-to-day jungle of operations like a seasoned safari ranger.

Your Responsibilities - What You'll Be Doing on the Safari:

Recruit, train, and nurture a high-performing team - growing talent like seedlings in a rainforest. Be a proud ambassador for Magic Memories, building strong, respectful partnerships with Chester Zoo and your team - fostering a habitat of collaboration and support. Create smart and efficient team rotas, ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time - no guesswork, just precision planning. Drive daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets - with the focus and determination of a lion on the prowl. Keep a close eye on the numbers: from stock and labour costs to loss prevention and P&L reporting - keeping your financial ecosystem in balance. Guide your team's development through regular one-to-ones and reviews - supporting growth like a dedicated conservationist. Ensure all HR policies and procedures are followed carefully and on time - as well as assist them with payroll accuracy - because every detail matters. Keep stock levels healthy, media accurate, and orders flowing - ensuring we're never caught without what we need to delight our guests. Join management meetings fully prepared - sharing your insights and updates like a true collaborator. Take responsibility for daily open and close routines - from cashing-up to sales reports - making sure every shift starts and ends smoothly.

What We're Looking For - The Ideal Explorer Will:

Have at least 2 years of hands-on management experience. Be a proactive and inspiring leader, ready to build a strong team culture. Thrive on targets and results - with a natural instinct to chase success. Bring energy, enthusiasm, and resilience to the team - like a meerkat on a mission. Easily build rapport with others, from teammates to stakeholders - communication is key in our ecosystem. Show great initiative, able to work independently while using available resources wisely. Have top-tier communication skills - clear, calm, and confident, even in the wildest of moments. Adapt quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment - bringing positivity and drive every step of the way. Show strong judgement and the ability to prioritise like a seasoned guide on the trail.
