Sales Assistant
to join our well-regarded team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking responsibility for their work, thrives in a hands-on environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service without needing close supervision.
About the Role:
As a Sales Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day operations of the store and help ensure our customers receive knowledgeable, courteous assistance. You will be expected to manage your time and tasks effectively, maintain your area to a high standard, and contribute positively to the overall running of the store.
This is a physical, customer-facing role that suits someone who is both practically minded and physically fit, as some stock and deliveries can be heavy or bulky.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales:
Provide friendly, professional assistance to customers on the shop floor.
Help customers find suitable products and provide honest, informed advice.
Operate the till and process payments accurately (cash, card, and online).
Recommend complementary items to support customer needs.
Handle enquiries and complaints in a calm, helpful manner.
Store Maintenance & Stock Handling:
Take ownership of your section -- keeping it clean, well-stocked, and well-presented.
Assist with unpacking deliveries and restocking shelves (lifting required).
Monitor stock levels and report shortages or issues in good time.
Support merchandising, pricing, and the upkeep of promotional displays.
Mix paint to customer specifications (full training provided).
Follow health and safety procedures, contributing to a safe and tidy shop environment.
What We're Looking For:
A dependable, self-directed individual who takes initiative.
Comfortable working independently and managing day-to-day responsibilities without close oversight.
Physically fit and in good health -- able to lift and move stock as needed.
Good communication and interpersonal skills with a helpful attitude.
Organised, practical, and willing to get involved in all aspects of store life.
Flexibility to work weekends and cover shifts when needed.
Previous retail or trade counter experience is helpful but not essential.
What We Offer:
Competitive hourly rate of 12.30, rising to 12.60 following successful 3-month probation.
Fixed weekly hours (28hours per week) Monday, Tuesday Wednesday & Thursday (week1) and Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Saturday (week2)
Training provided on the job -- including paint mixing and product knowledge.
