11,793.60 per annum / 12.60 per hour (cost of living and pay scale increases offered annually)

Hours:

18 hours per week. (Tues, Wed, Sat 9:15am-4:15pm)

We are happy to consider alternative hours between 7 to 18 hours per week with potential for flexible working/job share.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE



This post will principally work in Remake's Reuse Hub, which is the largest and longest standing project run by Remake. Our Reuse Hub helps our community to transition to a circular economy by keeping pre-loved items out of landfill. It diverts around 40 tonnes from landfill annually and is a treasure trove of the unusual and unexpected! Since 2015, our Reuse Hub has diverted 544,885 KG's from landfill! The post holder will be responsible for collecting, sorting, safety checking, pricing and displaying the items we receive. They will also offer a high level of customer service to our customers and donors and ensure that our diverse volunteer team are well supported when working in the Reuse Hub.

The post holder will also have responsibility for ensuring that our Community Tool Library, housed within the Reuse Hub and managed through an online booking system, operates effectively and that our customers receive excellent customer service and safety checked equipment.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Supporting Remake in the collection, sorting, preparation, display and of the Reuse Hub, household, and furniture items, ensuring they meet current regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Working closely with staff and volunteers, you'll ensure the Reuse Hub and online shop have an interesting range of safety checked donations.

You will be responsible for undertaking collections and deliveries of bulky goods using our van.

Supporting Remake's strategy through the support of its projects and deliverables including our Community Tool Library and Volunteer Programme.

Providing exemplary customer service to customers and members.

You'll provide customers with accurate and helpful information to maintain our high standards of courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service in person, online, by social media and phone.

You'll build and maintain good relations with the public, local partners, and community groups to promote Remake as first choice for second hand.

You will routinely undertake physical work involving lifting, manual handling, and moving donated stock. The physical aspects of the work are an integral part of the job and require the post holder to be fit and active.

You'll be responsible for processing till transactions and accurately recording claimable Gift Aid on donated items to maximise income from the Reuse Hub to support running costs.

You'll maintain a safe working environment, ensuring that all working areas are kept clean and orderly, and will adhere to Remake's Health and Safety policies and procedures and undertake training as needed.

You'll work alongside and support a range of volunteers and young employees according to business and volunteer needs. You will ensure that children and vulnerable adults working and volunteering in Remake have a safe, inclusive and accessible experience by ensuring compliance with Remake's safeguarding policies and procedures. NB: Please note that this role will require the postholder to undertake a PVG check prior to starting in post.

You'll need to be able to work some evenings and weekends in line with our opening hours, including on and offsite to meet business requirements and Retail customer needs.

Any other reasonable duties to meet Remake's business requirements.

Heavy lifting and being on your feet all day are essential parts of the role, it is therefore essential that suitable candidates are physically fit and able.

Desirable Skills:



Retail experience

Confidence with IT Systems including social media and Office 365

Experience of volunteering or working with volunteers

Confidence with driving a medium sized vehicle/van
