Job Overview



Sales Associate Team Member



The reception team is essential for ensuring the smooth daily operation of our martial arts academy. We're looking for a motivated and friendly individual to manage front desk operations, provide excellent customer service, and support the daily needs of our members, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities



Member Services & Front Desk Management



Provide a warm and welcoming experience for all members, visitors, and parents. Offer academy tours and explain the Roger Gracie lineage and philosophy. Manage member accounts, including verifying waivers, activating memberships, processing payments, and following up on any outstanding dues. Assist members with kimono and belt fittings and take photos for their membership cards. Handle inquiries via email and phone regarding memberships, pricing, and class schedules. Assist with membership changes, such as activations, freezes, and cancellations, and document the reasons.

Class and Lead Management



Prepare and organize attendance cards for students before each class. Verify bookings in the Mindbody system, checking for waivers and pending payments. Mark attendance for all students and update their status in the Mindbody system. Track consistent no-shows for classes. Confirm and follow up with individuals booked for introductory sessions. Maintain and follow up on all leads to convert inquiries into active memberships.

Retail and Facility Oversight



Sell academy-branded merchandise, including gis, rashguards, and other apparel. Manage rental services for gis and towels. Keep storage areas and benches tidy throughout the day. Restock vending machines with drinks. Supervise kids' classes by monitoring doors to ensure children ages 7-15 remain inside the academy.

Skills



Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English; multilingual or bilingual abilities, particularly in Portugese, are highly desirable. Strong organisational skills to manage tasks efficiently and maintain an orderly workspace. Basic math skills for handling transactions and managing cash registers. Time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods. Experience in merchandising to create attractive product displays that drive sales. Ability to engage customers through upselling techniques while ensuring their satisfaction.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Pay: From 16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
