The Retail Supervisor is a key delivery role with both our commercial team and our visitor team - it contributes to creating an outstanding visitor experience that helps to drive spend within our varied retail areas. This particular role will focus primarily on our music and event retail.
You'll manage the on the day gig retail offering for events ranging up to 4,500 attendees including briefing the retail staff, overseeing the count-in and count-out and being the key contact for touring merch teams.
You'll contribute to ensuring a successful and smooth retail operation as part of a larger event team.
Retail supervisors are also instrumental, on non-event days, in advancing the retail for the show and ensuring they are appropriately staffed.
The key responsibilities for the Retail Supervisor (Music) include;
Take delivery, and confirm counts for merchandise brought into the venue by touring parties
Ensure a smooth and successful retail operation throughout the show
Confirm the count out of the merchandise at the end of the shift
On the day management of retail staff to ensure they are fully briefed and confident in their roles
Arrange the display of the retail merchandise
Work with the wider Event team to ensure retail is a successful and safe part of the event
Champion Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility, ensuring Aviva Studios provides a consistent experience to all visitors
Contribute to the pre-show advancing for gig merch
The person specification for the Retail Supervisor (Music) are;
ESSENTIAL
Ability to motivate and lead/supervise teams of people in the delivery of outstanding experiences and services, working efficiently and collaboratively
Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and problem-solve on the ground
Understanding of selling merchandise within a busy gig or event environment
Experience of handling payments, resolving financial discrepancies, stock taking and handling valuable goods
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as part of a regular working week
Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
DESIRABLE
Experience working in a large-scale music venue
Up to date with the latest merchandise trends
Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and communicate with a broad range of people from different backgrounds
Good IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office programs and the ability to pick up systems quickly
Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent
