About the role:



The Returns & QC Manager is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of all returning assets, ensuring they are scanned, deallocated from jobs, quality checked, and prepared for return to stock. This role is central to maintaining equipment integrity and stock readiness across all departments--including Drapes, Motors, Truss, Decks, and more. The manager will coordinate returns workflows, manage repair and quarantine processes, handle sub-hire returns, and work closely with purchasing to plan and monitor stock levels. Precision, efficiency, and cross-departmental coordination are essential for success in this role.

Your duties will include:



Returns & Quality Control Management



Ensure all returned items are accurately scanned back into the system and deallocated from jobs. Review and process return paperwork, ensuring it is complete and reconciled with job manifests. Lead the QC process for all returning assets, ensuring items meet quality standards before re-shelving. Oversee the cleaning, testing, and preparation of items for return to stock across all departments.

Asset Tracking & Departmental Coordination:



Track all returns from site and ensure all departments (Drapes, Motors, Truss, Decks, etc.) are properly serviced. Communicate discrepancies, damage, or missing items to the relevant internal teams for action and resolution. Coordinate with project and logistics teams to ensure accurate and timely return processing.

Quarantine, Repair & Sub-Hire Management:



Manage the quarantine and repair process, including assessment, repair logging, and tracking of faulty equipment. Maintain a clear system for repair status and availability of affected items. Oversee sub-hire returns, ensuring third-party equipment is returned in full and in good condition. Liaise with sub-hire vendors to coordinate returns and resolve any issues.

Stock Management & Purchasing Liaison:



Monitor and report on current stock levels and future equipment availability based on return trends. Work closely with the Asset Manager to inform procurement needs and stock replenishment planning. Help identify patterns of wear, damage, or stock shortages to support proactive inventory management.

Team Leadership & Reporting:



Supervise return area personnel, ensuring adherence to process and high standards of accuracy and cleanliness. Support and train warehouse staff on QC standards and return workflows. Report directly to the Operation Director providing regular updates on returns performance, stock conditions, and repair activity.

Experience and qualifications:



Proven experience in warehouse, logistics, or asset management, ideally within the events, hire, or production industry. Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to stock and data accuracy. Knowledge of asset tracking systems, barcode scanning, and warehouse management software. Familiarity with technical equipment such as Drapes, Motors, Truss, and Decks is highly desirable. Effective communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments and vendors. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. Forklift license or relevant handling certifications (preferred but not required).
