DfT/TfL have recently launched an exciting new project to deliver the expansion of TfL's Contactless payments system on National Rail services across South East England. The expansion will see another 230+ National Rail stations added to the pay as you go network.
The Revenue Agreements Partner will play a significant role in delivering the Agreements required to support this expansion, as part of the wider remit to manage, negotiate and deliver on revenue agreements between TfL and Train Operating Companies and London Councils.
The job holder is responsible for ensuring that existing agreements are fit for purpose and are aligned with TfL payments strategy and evolution and with recent developments within the rail industry.
A key element of the role is the development of new revenue agreements to support future transport and ticketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
Leading the drafting of Commercial Agreements, both new or update existing, working with payments and commercial colleagues to understand implication of changes.
Reviewing existing agreements to ensure these are up to date, and identifying opportunities for reshaping/ renew our agreements, in the context of industry developments, fares and ticketing policies and payments strategy.
Leading negotiations with transport operators, Department for Transport, London Councils and other non-transport operators to agree revenue allocation and payments.
Supporting the development of proposals for revenue allocation/payments and thinking through the implications for TfL and external parties by analysing a number of options.
Delivery and management of agreements, including provision of data and analysis to external parties when required and concluding ongoing settlements through formal documentation of what is agreed.
Leading on annual cost reviews, liaising with internal SMEs and external stakeholders to communicate costs.
Liaising with commercial and procurement teams on agreements matters and internal accountants (Finance) on settlements, and assurance on audit processes to ensure that payments are delivered as agreed and implemented.
Knowledge
Thorough understanding of contracts and agreements in transport, particularly regarding revenue and fares.
Education to at least degree standard in a quantitative or technical discipline or relevant experience.
Knowledge of contractual ticketing agreements regarding fares and revenue sharing arrangements in rail an advantage.
Knowledge of London and its transport network, knowledge of the rail industry an advantage.
Use of Excel to advanced level, including the capability to handle very large and complex spreadsheets; familiarity with Business Objects or other database interrogation skills is desirable.

Some experience of dispute resolution in keeping with letter and spirit of Agreements (essential)
Legal experience not essential, but familiarity with legal documents an advantage
Financial experience (desirable)
