We have an exciting role on offer within our Resident and Business Support service as a Revenues and Benefits Assistant/Officer.
About Us
Resident and Business Support is a very high-profile service, which undertakes the vital role of collecting the main sources of income that the Council needs to fund its services, including council tax, business rates, sundry debt, and fines.
We are looking for someone to be part of a small team responsible for the billing, collection, and enforcement of business rates for approximately 5,000 properties with an annual amount due of around 40m.
The role will involve all aspects of business rates administration. This will include processing changes of business premises, applying reliefs and exemptions, processing refunds and negotiating payment arrangements. You will need to be able to learn, understand and apply the relevant legislation applicable to business rates. You will also be expected to deal with phone calls from a wide range of customers, providing excellent advice and customer service.
We are looking for a dedicated individual who can demonstrate excellent communication skills, can work as part of an effective team, is able to organise and prioritise workloads, can work under pressure to deadlines with conflicting demands and deal confidently with a full range of requests, responding in a mature and courteous manner in sometimes difficult situations. You must have a good general level of education, demonstrating numeracy and literacy.
