Job Details

To assess the financial contribution payable towards care costs by clients in long term care. This post is based in the Long Term Care Financial Assessment Team. At the time of advertising the post is located within the Revenues Team of Customer and Online Services, this post will transfer from Customer and Online Services to the Health & Social Care Partnership in October 2023.

We are looking for a self-motivated, positive and competent individual to provide a comprehensive and confidential service. The successful candidate will be computer literate and have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work on their own initiative and in partnership with other council services and external agencies.

Key tasks include:

  • Carrying out financial assessments in accordance with regulations and statutory guidelines
  • Understanding, interpreting and applying legislation and regulations where applicable
  • Managing your own caseload
  • Analysing financial information and applying to the financial assessment
  • Taking responsibility for the accuracy of your own workload ensuring it is processed within set timescales and the correct decisions are applied in accordance with any relevant legislation, regulations and guidelines.
  • Liaising and communicating with other Council services, customers and external partners
  • Financial reconciliations of payments, investigating queries within set timescales
  • Participate and assist with the delivery of projects related to service improvements

The Person

The candidate will be required to:
  • Take a proactive approach to managing your own workload and comply with legislative requirements whilst carrying out assessments.
  • Have experience in a financial/customer service background dealing with customers by phone and written correspondence.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer care and communication skills with the ability to respond sensitively to people with a variety of needs.
  • Be able to manage multiple demands and be responsible for the accuracy of your own workload.
  • Display a flexible attitude to work and change with a positive, pro-active approach.
  • Have the ability to use multiple IT systems and have excellent administrative skills.
Educated to SCQF level 5 which includes National 5 or SVQ level 2 or Standard Grades at Credit level or equivalent in a business /customer service background.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.
