To work with teachers as part of a professional team to support learning. General TA duties, including support of students with additional needs, with other duties as directed by the SENCo or class teacher. To provide dedicated support for children within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring their individual learning and development goals are met in a safe, nurturing environment To work under the professional direction of a teacher and within an agreed system of supervision in delivering lessons set by or with teacher.

Key Responsibilities



Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning plans. Assist with personal care routines where necessary, maintaining dignity and respect Support the development of communication, social, and emotional skills through targeted strategies. Monitor and record progress, sharing observations with the teaching team and parents. Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs and ensure accessibility. Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being in line with school policies. Collaborate with external professionals when required to support holistic development.

Person Specification



Experience or interest in working with children in EYFS Understanding of child development and inclusive practices. Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Main Duties:



Progress pupils' learning and assess, record, and report on development, progress, and attainment as agreed with the class teacher. Support children of all abilities, including those with special educational needs to learn as effectively and independently as possible, both individually and in small groups. Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities and observations with the class teacher, compiling and writing reports, assessments or observations as required. Support children's emotional development and resilience when approaching learning tasks Support children's behaviour in line with the school's vision, values and behaviour policy. Follow all school safeguarding procedures and participate in training as appropriate. Assist with children at the beginning and end of the day and in the playground as require, including the supervision of children during their lunchtime. Always implement and promote the school's equal opportunities policies and to value diversity. Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement Administer first aid and be willing to be first aid trained. Develop activities to promote social interactions between pupils during break times

This role is vital in ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive in their early years. Training and guidance will be provided to help you succeed in delivering high-quality, individualised support.

Training Information -




Over the course of 15 - 18 months (dependent upon the level of course an apprentice is being enrolled onto), you will study units such as health & safety in a childcare setting, holistic child development, safeguarding in a childcare setting, child development, communication with children, purposeful play and educational programmes, supporting children with special educational needs, collaborative working in early years childcare, wellbeing principles for children and at higher levels, child protection, data, supporting key life transitions and behaviour management (these modules may differ).


Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will achieve a Level 3 qualification and a TQUK Diploma in Early Years.

To make you aware, this position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore all convictions, cautions and bind-overs, including those regarded as 'spent' must be declared, and you will be asked about these during the recruitment process.


If you do not hold GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent), these will be delivered alongside the apprenticeship programme.


Our delivery of training is through blended learning. Supported by one of our sector specialist tutors, they will deliver teaching sessions using various methods including face to face teaching, Skype, Facetime, telephone and peer virtual classroom whilst using our interactive multi-sensory teaching resources. Teaching sessions are normally bi-weekly or monthly, depending on the learner's preferred learning style. Additionally, the tutor will provide the support required to ensure the learner enjoys and ultimately successfully achieves their goals and completes their training. We want learners to feel that our team are approachable at any stage of their learning journey.


You will initially take an online assessment that will help us to understand your learning style and needs, then we will tailor your learning experience accordingly. We ensure that you stay on track to complete your programme on time by managing your expectations through our state-of-the-art e-portfolio system. At the end of your programme, your learnt knowledge, skills and behaviours will be assessed by an independent assessor in your end point assessment (EPA).


As part of the apprenticeship, alongside your job role, 20% of your time in work must be dedicated to developing new skills. This can be any time devoted to learning and improving new skills without interruption.
