We are supporting a growing organisation in the search for an experienced Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join their expanding Risk & Compliance function. This is a key role working alongside senior compliance leaders to ensure the business meets all regulatory, legal and professional obligations.
What you'll be doing:
Monitor regulatory developments and emerging risk issues, ensuring the business adapts proactively.
Provide clear, practical advice on compliance and risk matters across all departments.
Design and deliver training sessions, including supporting the annual compliance programme.
Review, update and implement compliance policies, procedures and controls.
Lead on the introduction of new regulatory processes and ensure smooth integration.
Manage internal file reviews, analyse findings and produce reports with recommendations.
Investigate and respond to complaints, incidents and breaches, identifying preventative measures.
Maintain compliance registers including risk, conflicts, bribery and breach logs.
Act as Data Protection Officer, overseeing GDPR compliance, breach reporting, DPIAs and subject access requests.
Support reporting obligations to regulators and insurers, including professional indemnity notifications and renewals.
Assist with accreditation renewals (e.g. Conveyancing Quality Scheme) and ensure adherence to practice management standards.
Work with the MLRO/MLCO on anti?money laundering compliance and suspicious activity reporting.
Contribute to annual authorisation and practising certificate renewals.
About you:
Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive.
Significant experience in a law firm compliance role, or strong post?qualification litigation background.
In?depth knowledge of SRA Standards & Regulations, AML requirements, GDPR and wider professional rules.
Ideally, experience leading data protection compliance, handling DPIAs, breaches and ICO reporting.
Proven ability to design and implement compliance frameworks.
Comfortable operating at senior level and influencing decision?makers.
