Role purpose
By conducting comprehensive, proactive, and person-centred risk assessments, the Risk Assessment Officer plays a critical role in guaranteeing the security and well-being of our residents and employees. Assuring adherence to internal quality frameworks and CQC standards, this position works in tandem with the Care Quality Coordinator to identify, assess, and track risks associated with residents' care, surroundings, and everyday activities.
Key responsibilities
Perform thorough risk assessments for residents based on their assistance requirements, covering topics like behaviour, environment, health, and community access.
Work together with the Care Quality Coordinator to make sure risk assessments complement support tactics and individual care plans.
Regularly
review and update risk assessments
following:
-Any
incident or near miss
.
-Safeguarding concerns
or alerts.
-Significant
changes in residents' health, behaviour, or circumstances
.
Analyse
incident reports and trends
to identify emerging risks and make necessary adjustments to support plans and control measures.Conduct environmental and health & safety checks, reporting hazards or areas of concern promptly.
Participate in
incident debriefs and reflective reviews
, supporting learning and improvement across services.
Monitor and track implementation of control measures, ensuring staff understand and adhere to agreed risk management strategies.
To guarantee a coordinated approach to risk management, collaborate closely with managers, support personnel, and outside experts (such as social workers and clinicians).
Provide training, guidance, and feedback to staff on risk awareness and safe working practices.
Keep current, accurate records and participate in audits for quality assurance.
Assist in incident investigations and reflective reviews to identify learning and improve safety standards.
Job Criteria
3+ years' experience
of developing and implementing
high-needs support plans and risk assessments
within a health, social care, or supported living setting.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Confident communication skills, with the ability to engage residents and staff in discussions about risk and safety.
Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage a varied workload across multiple locations.
Qualification in Health & Social Care, Risk Management, or a related discipline (desirable).
