The Post Separation worker will support the delivery of the Road to Recovery National Lottery Community Fund Post Separation project in Carmarthenshire. The post-holder will be required to travel across Carmarthenshire.
The worker will be a member of the post separation partnership team working across Carmarthen and Ceredigion based in WWDAS and CARMDAS and will help develop the new specialist post-separation domestic abuse support services.
The post-holder will support the development and promotion of a trauma informed, needs-led service model that supports individuals and families to achieve independence and freedom.
This post is open to women only under the Equality Act 2010 pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1, which includes applicants with lived experience of being a woman.
Qualifications and Experience
1. A relevant qualification at Level 3 minimum in one of the following: advice and guidance, community work, health, youth work, social care, VAWDASV, counselling or equivalent experience (with a particular focus on the women's sector/community and voluntary sector)
2. Knowledge and understanding of the gendered nature of violence against women, especially domestic violence and abuse, and issues relating to it.
3. A sound knowledge of adult and children safeguarding principles, child protection issues
4. A good understanding of the experiences and needs of survivors of VAWDASV.
5. Good understanding of criminal and family justice system and public sector environment in which services operate
EXPERIENCE
6. Minimum of 2 years' experience of working within the third sector or community-based development services
7. Experience of work with women and/or children with a complex range of needs, risk assessing, needs assessing and safety and support planning.
8. Experience of establishing strong relationships and networks liaising and working with other organisations and agencies in partnership.
9. Experience of working as a member of a team and ability to lone work.
10. Ability to work within budget and manage expenses accordingly.
SKILLS
11. Experience communicating with people who have lived experience of domestic violence
12. Ability to work on one's own initiative, work flexibly with a changing agenda to develop and implement solutions independently, prioritise own work and to plan or organise work of others effectively to meet deadlines.
13. Strong influencing skills, enthusiasm, self-confidence, excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, and a proactive solution focused approach.
14. Able to think, act and plan strategically to develop practical and creative solutions to manage complex problems that may arise while maintaining high levels of diplomacy and professionalism
15. Strong IT skills and the ability to monitor and evaluate services using data base software systems and/or manual systems.
