Purpose of the Post.
Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the centre of everything we do.
o Carry out skilful activities including setting out work, driving and operating heavy equipment, maintaining highway works
.o Take part in the out of hours on-call system as required.
o Working overtime outside working hours.Responsibility for functions . e.g. staff, budgets, equipment
o Responsibility for the vehicles, equipment, machinery, and goods.
o Use WDM EZYTREEV computer tablet, Structures, NMWTRA Trimbull (Gully Emptying)
o Provide guidance to sub-contractors, JCB drivers, lorries, and planer etcMain DutiesResponsibilities include the need to work to detailed levels and as required with construction work in many tasks, for example: -
o Drainage
o Maintain a footway e.g., kerbing, slabbing.
o Ironwork e.g., gully and manholes
o Concrete work
o Walling
o Sector Scheme 2A/2B Security Fencing
o Drilling work
o Tarmac work including patchwork.
o Sector Scheme Number 13 dressing
o Sector Scheme Number 7 road marks.Other Duties including: -
o Traffic control and work on Sector Scheme 12A/B/C/D high speed roads
o Move, replace, and compress soil, stones, and other materials.
o Cut trees including using MEWP and a woodchipper.
o Plant and maintain highway environs in general.
o Maintain ditches.
o Put up permanent and temporary signs.?
o Respond to severe weather, floods, and overflows etc.
o Manholes.
o Winter maintenance work, including gritting, dealing with floods, clearing trees, City and Guilds Winter maintenance.
o Jetting and gully emptying.
o Keep a record of daily work and the goods, machinery etc. used.
o Weedkilling
o Working from a heightDrive / use heavy machinery for example: -
o Vehicles under and over 3.5T.
o Gritting machinery.
o Snow ploughs

o MEWPWhen using the vehicles and machinery, there will be a need to: -
o ?Drive vehicles in a safe and courteous manner in accordance with the road's speed restrictions and within the requirements of the law
o Comply with the Fleet Department's Policy, that includes conducting appropriate inspections on the vehicles/machinery to ensure that they are safe to be on the road. Record every diversion and report any defects immediately. ?
o Attend relevant training for CPC, vehicles / machinery.Using handheld tools for example: -
o Chainsaw with an extension
o Lawn and hedge mower, leaf blower
o Road crusher
o Compactor machine
o Small roller
o Circular saw
o Use an electronic tablet to record and locate work.It is important that the employee takes care whilst using the machinery in accordance with any training including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. The worker will be responsible for various machinery maintenance and keeping them safe in the Council's vehicle or in the depot. There will be a need to assist the Site Engineer when organising assistance with the handheld tools. Every worker will be expected to use the HAV system that is in place to monitor personal vibration when using the equipment.? ? ??
THERE IS A DUTY TO ENSURE THAT THE TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT ARE ALWAYS USED IN A SAFE WAY WITH RESPONSIBILITY FOR ONE'S OWN SAFETY AS WELL AS THAT OF THE WORKFORCE AND THE PUBLIC.Health and Safety: -
o Responsible for ensuring your own safety, the safety of colleagues, and members of the public.
o Work in accordance with the managing safely procedures, risk assessments, the Council's policies in accordance with the worker's responsibilities as noted in the Health and Safety at Work 1974.
o Contribute to the service's risk assessment and take part in Health and Safety inspections and demonstrate an understanding of the risks and compliance.
o Report and assist with completing reports on accidents / violent incidents (HS11) as well as Insurance Forms
o Comply with specific rules and instructions in public spaces.
o Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including protective equipment for purposeful tasks.
o You will be expected to participate in first aid training.Corporate: -
o Responsible for self-development.
o Attend any training that is relevant to the post.
o Work within the Council's policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality
o Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council's information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
o Commitment to reducing the Council's carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council's Carbon Footprint.
o Responsible for reporting any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
o Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council's Health and Safety Policy.
o Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary and responsibility level of the post.Special Circumstances . e.g. the need to work unsociable hours, special working arrangements etc.
o It is essential that the worker is willing to participate in the Council's on-call system as required and there will be a need to work outside working hours to respond to emergencies such as severe weather, winter maintenance and accidents etc.
o Requirement to work outside normal working hours as required.
