Job Description

Job Purpose:



To undertake responsive and planned roofing repairs and maintenance on social housing properties, ensuring all works are completed to a high standard of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The role includes working on both void and tenanted homes to support the upkeep of housing stock.

Key Responsibilities:



Carry out reactive and planned roofing repairs including work on: Flat roofs (felt, asphalt, GRP) Pitched roofs (slate, tile) Fascia, soffits, gutters, and downpipes Flashing, leadwork, and ridge repairs Diagnose and rectify roof leaks and water ingress issues. Perform roofline work, including the repair and replacement of guttering and roof timbers. Complete temporary and permanent roof repairs safely and effectively. Ensure safe access to roofs using ladders, scaffolding, or mobile platforms as required. Carry out visual inspections of roofs and report findings, including identifying further work required or potential hazards. Work in a respectful and considerate manner within occupied homes, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants. Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and risk assessments. Accurately record completed work using job management systems or handheld devices. Participate in emergency call-out rota, including evenings and weekends if required. Maintain tools, equipment, and any assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe condition.

Skills and Experience:



Essential:



NVQ Level 2 in Roofing Occupations (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in roof repair and maintenance, including flat and pitched roofs. Working knowledge of roofing systems, tools, and techniques. Strong understanding of health and safety practices, including working at height. Ability to diagnose faults and apply effective repair solutions. Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:



Experience in social housing or domestic maintenance environments. CSR card or equivalent health and safety certification. Training in asbestos awareness, manual handling, and ladder safety. Basic skills in related trades (e.g., carpentry, plaster patching, guttering).

Professional and respectful when working in and around customers' homes. Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated. Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team. Committed to delivering a high-quality service and ensuring resident satisfaction

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 13.50-16.00 per hour
