Job Description

The Roofers' Mate will play a key role in our Property Care team, supporting the delivery of high-quality repair and maintenance services across our housing stock, public buildings, and associated contracts. Working closely with qualified roofers, you'll ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, helping us deliver excellent outcomes for our residents and the organisation.


As a Roofers' Mate, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, preparation, and delivery of roofing works, carrying out associated repairs, and ensuring health and safety standards are met at all times.

Role Responsibilities



Drive, operate, and maintain service vehicles (where a valid licence permits), completing checks, reporting defects, and keeping accurate records. Support qualified roofers in delivering repairs and maintenance to the highest standards. Carry out associated repairs, clearance, cleaning, and removal of building waste, including hazardous materials, in compliance with H&S regulations. Undertake damp and mould washes and treatments in line with procedures. Load and unload vehicles using mechanical equipment where required. Maintain plant and electrical equipment, reporting any faults immediately. Work alongside colleagues to ensure jobs are completed safely and in line with regulations. Attend and contribute to training sessions to continuously improve skills and knowledge. Participate in the organisation's out of hours emergency repair service (on-call rota). Report any necessary repairs or health and safety concerns promptly.

Who are we looking for?




Our ideal candidate:

Has a full UK driving licence Ability to identify issues early, find practical solutions, and escalate concerns when necessary to avoid delays or disruptions. Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals and contractors while maintaining a customer-focused approach. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure effective liaison with tenants, contractors, and colleagues.
