The role involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of various roofing systems across residential, commercial, and public buildings in the UK. The contractor will specialise in the following areas:

Slating and Tiling: Installing and repairing pitched roofs using both natural slates and various types of tiles (plain, interlocking, etc.). Experience with setting out roofs, fixing slates and tiles, and understanding the principles of head laps and batten gauges. Lead Work: Handling lead sheet for flashings, valleys, and other detailed work to ensure buildings are waterproofed against the elements. Skills in cutting, shaping, and installing lead to meet high standards of weather resistance. Flat Roofs: Expertise in installing and repairing flat roofing systems, including built-up felt, single-ply membranes, and modern materials like EPDM or GRP (glass-reinforced plastic). Fascia, Soffits, and Rainwater Goods: Installing, replacing, or repairing fascia boards, soffits, and gutters to protect the building's structure and manage water flow efficiently. Basic Pointing/Brickwork: Knowledge of basic masonry techniques sufficient for pointing around chimneys, repairing small sections of brickwork, or ensuring the integrity of roofline structures.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring all work adheres to UK building standards, including BS 5534 for slating and tiling. Compliance with health and safety regulations, especially concerning working at heights. Regular maintenance checks and minor repairs to prolong the life of roofing installations. Working in various weather conditions and potentially at different heights, requiring physical fitness and an ability to work safely at heights.
Qualifications and Skills:

Experience in the roofing trades. Knowledge of roofing materials, their application, and maintenance. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and machinery relevant to roofing work. Strong problem-solving skills for addressing complex roofing issues. Good communication for client interactions and teamwork.
Work Environment:

The job involves outdoor work in all weather conditions, requiring adaptability and resilience. Travel to various job sites within the Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.
