Roofing Tutor

Bristol, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

You may already be an experienced Roofing Tutor, or you may have spent years on the tools and are starting to think about what comes next.

Either way, if you are looking for a change of pace from the daily physical grind of roofing, this could be the move you are looking for. This role suits people who are in the roofing trade, who want more stability, a regular monthly wage, paid annual leave and the security of permanent employment, without losing touch with the trade they know inside out. Instead of chasing the next job or dealing with the pressures of self employment, you will be using your skills to help young people get into roofing properly.

And if you are already a roofing tutor, you will be looking to join a leading independent training apprenticeship provider.

Many of our apprentices have not thrived in a traditional classroom, but they are hands on, capable and keen to work. Passing on your experience will genuinely shape their future.

The role

As a Roofing Tutor, you will deliver practical and classroom based training to roofing apprentices. Your focus will be on teaching correct methods, safe working practices and trade standards so learners are ready for site work and end point assessment.

You will demonstrate roofing skills, assess learner work, keep training records up to date and support apprentices through their programme. You will also work closely with employers to make sure learners are progressing well and receiving the right support.

This is not a desk only role. You will spend time in workshops and training environments, showing learners how the job is really done, while maintaining a safe, organised and professional setting.

You will cover slate and tile roofing and flat roofing, including setting out, measuring, cutting materials, felting, battening, leadwork and torch on systems.

What we are looking for

You will have at least five years experience in roofing and be confident working across slate and tile and or flat roofing. You may already have experience as a tutor or assessor, or you may be looking to step into training for the first time.

Previous experience in education, training or working with apprentices is essential. Teaching or assessor qualifications are desirable but not essential, as support and development can be provided for the right person.

You will be reliable, organised and patient, with the ability to lead and motivate learners. Basic IT skills are required for recording progress and completing paperwork. A good understanding of safeguarding and learner welfare is important.
