To provide a high standard of physical. emotional, social and intellectual care for the children in the baby room.
To support and guide other personnel within the baby room and in the nursery as a whole when required.
To fully understand the age and stage of development for under two's.
To implement and monitor the daily routine of the baby room.
Key areas.* work with the children under the age of two years.
Oversee the planning to ensure that new learning opportunities are provided.
Monitor and lead junior members of staff and students ensuring a high level of care is maintained.
Liaise with parents.
Be a good role model in language and actions.
Responsible to.* Nursery manager/ deputy manager.
Duties and Responsibilities.* Operate a programme of activities to suit the age and stage of the children in your area in conjunction with other members of staff.
Keep a current up to date profile of achievements of your own key children.
Work with the parents of special needs children to ensure full integration of the child in the nursery setting.
Support colleagues and engage in a good staff team.
Liaise and support parents and other family members.
To be involved in out of hours activities, eg. training, staff meetings, parents evenings.
Must be flexible within working practices of the nursery be prepared to help where needed, eg. preparation of meals, cleaning of nursery and equipment.
Record accidents/ incidents in the relevant files. Ensure that relevant signatures are obtained. Inform the manager and deputy of any incidents.
Be constantly aware of the needs of the children.
Ensure the child is collected by someone who is known to the nursery or the that the collection policy is followed correctly.
All concerns re-safeguarding of the children are to be reported immediately to the person responsible for safeguarding or the manager.
Respect the confidentiality of information received.
Be aware of the needs of children from different ethnic and social backgrounds.
Maintain your own personal and professional development and assist in the development of colleagues and students.
Monitor maintenance of the fabric and equipment in the baby room reporting any concerns to the manager or her deputy.
Maintain an awareness of the fire drill in accordance with the nursery policy.
The post holders duties will be carried out at all times in compliance with the nursery's equal opportunities policy.
Ensure the health and safety of the children and colleagues, become familiar with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
To be aware of the high standards of the nursery and uphold these at all times.
