Job Description

We are looking for a well qualified, experienced and creative Nursery Room Leader.

We are a friendly, professional day Nursery in Strood, Kent (ME2 3PP). Cherubs Montessori Day Nursery supports outstanding learning and care for children aged 3 months - 5 yrs. You will be DBS checked, must be flexible and enthusiastic, with good communication skills.

The Nursery Room Leader shall be involved in all aspects of coordinating teamwork and administration necessary for the smooth running of their department. Attention should centre around the needs and provision for children, staff and parents to the benefit of all involved.

Duties and responsibilities as a Room Leader:

A positive, calm and caring approach used at all times. Be prepared and willing to liaise with parents, daily, about the care and progress of their children in a calm and professional way. Parents need reassurance, respect and support -

always be positive!

You will be a Key Worker - This means you will be responsible for organising appropriate activities and making regular observations covering all areas of development, which must support, underpin and keep up to date their development records Assigning children to key workers most able to promote development to their maximum Ensuring staff ratios are correct The Room Leader should have a good working relationship with all staff, working as part of a team and valuing and encouraging staff input Providing monitoring and guidance for staff to ensure caring, positive and appropriate communication with children Ensuring all staff in your team understand the importance of all responsible, professional communication - being aware of confidentiality and personal preferences Liaising with other room leaders and management in regular meetings prior to staff meetings to discuss matters needing attention Liaise with management to ensure all new starters complete all Child Entry, Medical and other forms and provide all necessary, relevant information before attending Ensure Early Learning Goals are recorded for each activity planned Feedback and "next steps" on activities is recorded on activity sheets Regular child observations are written up to highlight areas needing attention in the case of each child Ensure each child's "special needs" requirements and parental preferences are well known by all staff Arrange regular visits and outings to support children's planned activities Outdoor activities and games should be organised for outdoor play within a scheduled programme Delegating tasks to specific members of staff Working out rotas for shared jobs, e.g., nappy changing, room tidying, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From 13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 40 per week
