The Walton Centre are seeking a highly motivated registered occupational therapist to join our therapy service on a permanent, full-time basis as part of our Band 5 rotation. As a member of the Walton Centre therapy service you will be part of our exceptional multidisciplinary team providing specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programmes for adults. Rotating within the fields of acute neurology, acute neurosurgery and neuro-rehabilitation, you will receive training, support and appraisal from highly skilled specialist occupational therapy staff as well as regular shared learning opportunities across the MDT. Applicants will have excellent communication and organisational skills and will be strong team players with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Foundation Trust is a world-renowned centre of excellence in neurological care with a strong emphasis on education, research and development. 1. To undertake occupational therapy assessment, clinically diagnose and implement agreed treatment plans in a manner that respects people's privacy, dignity and individuality
2. To rotate at agreed regular intervals as part of the Band 5 rotation programme.
3. To work flexibly across a 7 day week according to service need
4. To be a member of the multidisciplinary team and actively participate in M.D.T. meetings.
5. To ensure effective internal and external two-way communication with patients, carers and all other Health and Social Care Professionals regarding all aspects of patient care. Providing and receiving complex information which requires empathy and reassurance. Communicating where there may be barriers to understanding
6. To maintain accurate professional documentation in line with Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) standards and local policies and procedures. Contributing to documentation monitoring as required.
7. To liaise regularly with Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy Team Leaders / ESPs / Clinical Specialists regarding caseloads, treatment progression and on-going care.
8. To assist where necessary in the provision of cover for the service as a whole in times of annual leave / sickness etc.
9. To undertake occupational therapy home assessments in line with health and safety policy and RCOT Home Visit Standards for Practice Guidelines.
10. To assess for, prescribe and authorise requests for minor adaptations and specialist equipment in a safe and competent manner. Paying due attention to risk, safety, choice, independence and use of resources.
