The Trust has an exciting opportunity for a full-time rotational pharmacist to join our pharmacy team.

This exciting role will provide you with a range of rotational clinical pharmacy experience across various specialities within the Trust, as well as developing non-clinical skills.



If you are successful and secure this role as a band 6, you will progress to a band 7 rotational position once you have successfully worked through a planned advancement pathway aimed at holistically developing the pharmacist and bringing them up to band 7 level.



A flavour of your day to day



You will work in a direct, patient-facing role ensuring the safe and appropriate use of medicines across the Trust.



Through the structured rotation plan you will be exposed to, and work within, a number of clinical areas, including:



Medical wards



Surgical wards



Admissions wards Medicines Information Aseptic Production Palliative care Antimicrobial stewardship Inpatient and outpatient dispensary

The department works on an extended hours, seven day pharmacy service on a rostered basis, as well as providing an on-call service out of hours, which you will be involved in.



We have a fully integrated electronic prescribing and medication record system known as e-Care, which is supporting the pharmacy department to improve and monitor the care that we deliver.

Job summary

1. The post-holder will develop and demonstrate proficiency in their knowledge, expertise and operational effectiveness in rotational areas, including but not limited to, Acute & Emergency Admissions, Antimicrobial

Stewardship, Education & Training, Formulary Management & Medicines Optimisation, Operational Management & Leadership, Medicine Directorate, Medicines Information, Paediatrics, and Surgery Directorate & ITU.



2. The post-holder will assist in developing the specialist clinical pharmacy service to wards within their rotational area, in line with local and national standards and policies, ensuring the safe, clinical and cost effective use of medicines and staff resources.

3. The post-holder will provide a specialised level of pharmaceutical care to patients and will support other healthcare staff in the safe and appropriate use of medicines.

4. The post-holder will be a source of specialised advice within their area of clinical specialism to other pharmacists and healthcare professionals, including participation in multidisciplinary and governance

meetings.

5. The post-holder will support the Lead Pharmacist for Education & Training in delivering training to pharmacists and foundation trainee pharmacists within their area of clinical specialism and must undertake

clinical supervision, mentoring and ward-based assessments of junior pharmacists, medicines management technicians and foundation trainee pharmacists.
