###

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated individuals to join our teams as a band 6 rotational clinical pharmacist on a progression pathway to becoming a band 7 clinical pharmacist,. As an organisation and department we are committed to the development and retention of our staff, which is why we want to invest in this new progression role.

You will join a team of specialist and generalist clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants in delivering a comprehensive and efficient pharmaceutical service, aligned to the needs of patients and service users. Experience will be gained through completion of a diverse range of clinical rotations, and supplemental development tasks.

It is an exciting time to join the department as we are reviewing the pharmacy service we want to provide, and making adjustments to roles so that we can deliver an effective service built around the needs of patients and working closely with the multidisciplinary teams on the wards. This will greatly enhance the knowledge and skills of our team and improve job satisfaction.

###

Main duties of the job

You will have clinical responsibility for at least one ward that will complement your rotation and the objectives you will be given. Electronic prescribing is in use across all ward areas.

The rotation provides an excellent grounding to your career. Funded clinical diplomas are available after an initial period in post.

You will need good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to prioritise and organise your work. We expect our pharmacists to be highly motivated and have a passion for putting the patient first.

The post includes 7-day working and participation in the late duty, weekend/bank holiday, and on-call rotas.

###

Working for our organisation

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 490,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey. In addition, we provide more specialist services, in particular renal and neonatal intensive care, to a wider area, covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire.

We serve an area that is rich in diversity, with a mix of urban and rural areas, and differing levels of quality of life. We cover some of the most prosperous postcodes in the country, as well as some poorer areas. Together with our colleagues at NHS Surrey and NHS Sutton and Merton, we work to make sure that we deliver the best possible care to the communities we serve.

The Trust employs approximately 5,000 staff across its hospitals and is supported by over 500 volunteers.
