The Occupational Therapy Degree Apprentices will work on a rotational basis under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist for the duration of their apprenticeship. The post holder will carry out occupational therapy under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist. This will include working on patients' performance in completing or participating in activities of daily living. The post holder will work closely with the Occupational Therapists and other members of the multi-disciplinary team in enabling patients to maintain or improve their function.
The apprenticeship will comprise of
o On the job training and university learning
o A mixture of academic and practiced based learning and assessment to develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies as detailed in the Health and Care Professions Council standards of proficiency.
o On the job - mentorship and structured progression for the student (e-portfolio) o Attendance at University sessions and successful completion of placements
o Undertake a flexible learning approach - online lectures/ interactions to aid flexible learning.
Apprentices will be required to complete a BSc (Hons) degree in Occupational Therapy approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
o On successful completion of the programme the apprentice will be offered a Band 5 OT post within the organisation
