We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician with strong problem solving skills that is self-motivated and organised to form part of our pharmacy team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our pharmacy team during a transformative period as we implement Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA).

Main duties of the job
As one of the team of Rotational Pharmacy Technicians you will have the opportunity to gain experience including the following and much more:

  • Dispensing controlled drugs using electronic registers from automated storage cabinets
  • Providing a theatre CD top up and replenishment service
  • Gaining experience in IT Systems including Ascribe, Automated dispensing (RSUH) & Prescription Tracking
  • Maintaining good stock control of medicines
  • Medicines optimisation on wards
  • Supporting and training staff
You must be a team player with the ability to work flexibly and react positively to change. Essential skills include an eye for detail, high level of accuracy and knowing the limitations of the role. You must be able to follow written procedures, work under supervision and complete tasks accurately to set deadlines.

  • NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services or National BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent nationally recognised qualification plus Accredited underpinning knowledge
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable
  • National Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification or requirement to undertake the training
  • Expert Witness/A1 NVQ Assessor Qualification or willing to undertake
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians
Experience

  • Minimum 1 year recent experience in either a hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy setting.
  • Commitment and evidence of professional updating and continuous professional development
