Manchester City Council is a vibrant city, with great connections, but we face a challenge with homelessness for both families and single people. We are committed to rapidly increasing our levels of homeless prevention, increasing our supply of affordable housing, reducing and changing our use of temporary accommodation whilst, most importantly, securing better outcomes for our residents. We have a new housing strategy with a focus on increasing the number and access to affordable housing and a unique Our Manchester values approach.
This role will lead on reducing rough sleeping in the City and develop prevention activity across the partners and stakeholders. The key responsibilities for this role within the Outreach Team will be to establish a culture of 'can do' and develop the service into a front facing team of ambassadors for the Council whilst ensuring costs are reduced for the City.
The successful person will lead the Outreach team and help embed culture change across the service.
About the Candidate
The Outreach Team is a busy customer focussed service supporting people who are facing many challenges. We need a pragmatic, innovative, resilient and experienced officer who can work with managers, staff, external partners and people who are, or are at risk, of homelessness to find the best solution for their circumstances. They need to develop and use all tools at their disposal to help prevent homelessness for the people we support. The person can make strong decisions, in a pressured environment.
