Grampian contains a wealth of staffed and unstaffed HES sites, and the castles of Corgarff, Kildrummy and Tolquhon showcase the wide variety of fortifications that reflect the tumultuous history of the region. Managing these three different sites is a varied role managing small site teams across three locations throughout the summer season. With limited financial resources available, creativity is required to develop and expand the visitor offer at these unique sites.

Key Responsibilities of this role
Management, leadership and support to staff at the monuments to ensure delivery of the highest standards of customer service.
Ensure your team provide the warmest welcome to our visitors and engage proactively with customer service.
Undertake staff coaching, training and development as required and follow agreed processes for any HR activities needed including recruitment.
Act as the main contact for visitors and community for the allocated sites and as first point of escalation for resolution of complaints and queries.
Processing and promotion of admissions transactions through the till system.
Ensure a high standard of presentation, including following appropriate cleaning processes in both public and staff areas.
Design and deliver guided tours as part of the core visitor experience
Lead the team in achievement of quality assurance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and maximise commercial income generating opportunities to achieve agreed commercial performance targets for the monument.
Actively support in HES seminars, events, functions and promotions.
Support existing and future Community Engagement with the local community.
Lead your team to ensure our service standards are maintained and participate in local action plan delivery.
Attend internal district meetings and chair team meetings as required and ensure proactive communication to on-site colleagues.
Ensure the security of the site, buildings and contents, including acting as key holder, complying with all Health & Safety procedures/guidance relevant to the site.
Ensure that the health and safety of staff, visitors and contractors is always paramount including reviewing and developing risk assessments as required.
Adapt to the operational demands of the three sites, occasionally with minimal advance briefing, especially during emergency cover.
You will also be required to travel to other sites within the district or region for the purpose of cover, to attend meetings or training or to assist with supporting other site activity.
Key requirements of the role:

Essential:
Experience delivering high standards of customer service in a customer focused environment
A genuine interest for working in the heritage tourism industry.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent teamworking skills.
Experience of managing and leading a small team with the ability to plan, organise and develop others.
Proven knowledge of retail processes and procedures (including merchandising, stock management and ordering processes).
Demonstrable experience in applying policies, procedures, or specialist knowledge to help a team effectively resolve problems, complaints, or complex issues.
Strong personal judgement, relationship management and communication skills.
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (with appropriate clothing provided), and commit to regular weekends, bank holidays, and occasional unsocial hours to support activities such as events.
Willingness for frequent travel to work at multiple sites within the district, sometimes at short notice.
