About the Role
Working within a Centre of Excellence environment, the Royalties Controller is responsible for setting up and maintaining author contracts within the Royalties system. You will also responsible for arranging payment of outgoing royalties to authors in accordance with their contract with OUP and must respond to and resolve author queries, within agreed SLA's.
Other duties will include:

  • Create new author vendor master records and update and maintain in accordance with internal compliance controls.
  • Create new author contracts within the royalty system
  • Update and maintain author contracts where rights and royalty lines are missing or where addendums have been made to existing contracts
  • End contract lines where Rights have been reverted
  • Where the contract allows add recoverable publishing costs to the author's contract in the royalty system
  • Support the timely investigation of author queries, identify root cause and fixing issue in the royalty system
  • Process Advance and Royalty payments in the royalty system. Match and send royalty statement, remittance advice and where appropriate tax documents to the author
  • Submit relevant tax documents to the author and tax reports to the relevant tax authority
  • Scan and index author contracts and correspondence into document management system
  • Assist within incoming royalty processes where required
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
Essential:
  • Royalties or Contract Administration or Accounts Payable background
  • Experience of working in a shared service and/or Centre of Excellence environment
  • Understanding of basic accounting, ideally gained from working in a Royalties or Accounts Payable function
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex data
  • Meticulous, shows close attention to detail
  • Good time management skills, able to work to deadlines and meet SLA's
  • Accurate and consistent
  • Good Communication skills
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer services
Desirable:
  • Experience of dealing with large volumes in a multi-currency environment
  • A good understanding of Publishing, rights and royalties
  • Ability to interpret Royalties and Rights contracts from a legal and tax point of view
