The RSPCA West Dorset Branch is a separate charity affiliated to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). The branch is governed by a board of trustees and runs the Taylor's Rehoming Centre at Kingston Maurward and three charity shops in Bridport, Weymouth and Sherborne.

This is a new post which presents the successful applicant with the opportunity to contribute to the important work of the West Dorset RSPCA branch and improve outcomes for animals in their care. We're seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, efficient and well organised individual to provide financial support to the branch Treasurer. You will be required to interact with other staff, volunteers, trustees and suppliers on a daily basis. The role requires you to work with a team but also on your own initiative if necessary.
Job Purpose
To provide financial support to the RSPCA West Dorset Branch and ensure that operational finance is undertaken efficiently, accurately and effectively. The role also provides the opportunity, in conjunction with the Treasurer and trustee board, to be involved in establishing new finance policies and practices. Please note that this is a part time 10 hours per week post which can be flexible to suit the successful applicant. The salary quoted is for the full time equivalent.
Key responsibilities
1. Payroll and associated tasks
2. Processing invoices for payment
3. Issuing sales invoices and chasing payments were necessary
4. Compiling monthly spreadsheets for HQ payments
5. Day to day management of the branch bank accounts including setting up standing orders and internet banking.
6. Collating and recording shop income on a weekly basis
7. Liaising with the accountants to assist with compilation of Xero records and VAT returns
8. Collating staff hours for wages on a monthly basis and liaising with accountants for salary payments
9. Collating and recording donations (including CAF) and gift aid forms
10. Monitoring the branch Treasurer e mail and dealing with messages
11. Updating various branch spreadsheets on a regular basis
12. Other financial tasks as directed by the branch Treasurer as need arises

Qualifications
1. Minimum of five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above or equivalent ability
2. Good standard of numeracy and written literacy skills
3. Book-keeping/accountancy qualification
