We are looking for a talented and hard-working individual to join us as our new rugby coach.

The Bishop of Llandaff is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school serving the Christian and non-Christian communities within the city and surrounding areas including The Vale of Glamorgan, Caerphilly, Rhondda Cynon Taff, and Bridgend. Standards of achievement at all levels are exceptionally high, with outcomes consistently performing amongst the best schools in Wales and rest of the UK. However, the school is more than just about examination outcomes. Our students take part in a broad range of activities that help them become "well-rounded" and our strong Christian ethos helps shape our students to become positive role models in our society. It genuinely is a happy place to learn and work! We want every student to have the best start in life by providing them with an outstanding education! We seek to ensure each student in our care achieves their full potential academically; develops the skills necessary to be successful in our ever-changing world; and understands a sense of morality guided by the gospel values of love, acceptance, responsibility, and forgiveness. These aims are delivered through a commitment to providing high quality learning experiences, a strong pastoral system and an extensive range of sporting, cultural, physical, and extra-curricular activities.

About the role

This is a unique role at school, with a wonderful opportunity to help enrich the lives of students beyond the classroom. As our Rugby Coach, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and improving the quality of rugby provision at the school. The school has a long tradition of rugby, having been an active participant of the WRU development programme. Whilst this was discontinued by the WRU last summer, the school wishes to retain the role, given its positive impact on students at school. The Rugby Coach will be a key member of the physical education team but will have a clear and specific remit to continue to further develop a love of the sport and to engage students of all ages and abilities, including both boys and girls.

Despite being a 1960s school site, we have access to a rugby playing field, a 3G pitch, and to a multi-gym with high-quality facilities. A 300,000 investment programme was completed in 2024 to improve the school's sporting facilities, including refurbishments to the gymnasium and sports hall. This role would suit someone with experience of rugby at a good-level and who is fully committed to developing students' skills and love of the sport. We are looking for an individual who will enable rugby to continue to thrive within the school.
