Job Description

Provide strategic leadership to the SCIES team within Cheshire East Council to ensure that educational settings are well supported and pupils safeguarded. This will include oversight of the Local Authority Designated Officer and any Ofsted complaints. Lead the SCIES team so that traded functions of the service are delivered effectively and that there is a quality buyback offer to Schools and Academies to support safeguarding. Manage a team of staff to deliver service priorities. To support the safeguarding of children in education settings by offering bespoke, targeted support to individual schools where this is an identified need. Leading and oversight of the behaviour, support and wellbeing strategy for the education department.

Job Title: Safeguarding Children in Education and LADO Service Manager

Salary: Grade 12



Qualification: Qualified Social Worker with SWEngland registration essential



Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent



Are you a skilled safeguarding social worker, with a passion for promoting the safety and wellbeing of children in educational settings? We are looking for a committed and experienced leader to join our team as Safeguarding Children in Education and LADO Service Manager.



This is a key role in our safeguarding structure providing strategic leadership to the SCIES team within Cheshire East Council to ensure that educational settings are well supported and pupils are safeguarded. This will include oversight of the Local Authority Designated Officer and Ofsted complaints.



You will:


Lead the SCIES team so that traded functions of the service are delivered effectively and that there is a quality offer to Schools and Academies to support safeguarding. Manage the LADO service. Support the safeguarding of children in education settings by offering bespoke, targeted support to individual schools where this is an identified need. Lead and provide oversight of the behaviour, support and wellbeing strategy for the education department.



About You:






A qualified social worker, with a deep understanding of child protection in educational contexts. Strong leadership and management skills, with experience overseeing safeguarding practice at a strategic or operational level. A confident communicator, able to challenge and support schools to improve safeguarding outcomes. In-depth knowledge of statutory guidance including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children. Registration with Social Work England is essential.
