Our security and policing team is currently seeking a Safer Travel intern to assist in crafting long-term strategies for combatting all types of anti-social behaviour on the public transport network. This 12-month internship offers you the chance to enhance the passenger experience by collaborating with diverse teams across the Network Resilience directorate, dedicated to addressing disruption and anti-social behaviour year-round. Network Resilience, part of Transport for West Midlands, is a team of various transport specialisms, working closely with partners to develop a strategic response to minimise impact as well as an operational response to keep people moving.


This is a varied role where no two days will be the same. Whether you are conducting CCTV control room compliance, assisting transport safety officers, supporting the communications team, visiting schools/colleges, investigating anti-social behaviour incidents or supporting with social media content aimed at victims on public transport, you will play an integral role in keeping people safe on our transport network.


We need someone who is enthusiastic, a strong team player and keen to understand exactly how the organisation keeps the region moving and safe.

Please note that if successful you will be required to undertake Non-Police Personal Vetting Level 2 and a DBS check.

What you will be doing

Gain a working knowledge of the Safer Travel CRM (ASB) case management system to assist colleagues with the investigation of reported incidents. Research how to improve people's journeys on public transport. Support the work to drive down unwanted sexual behaviour and violence against women and girls. Assist and support the CCTV and Regional Transport Coordination Centre operatives with projects. Assemble and organise the documentation for the British Standards Audit Support with projects as required, including undertaking research to ensure projects are progressed in a timely manner.

About you

Studying towards an undergraduate degree (any subject) Willing to have Non-Police Personal Vetting Level 2 Interest in safer travel Ability to work independently. Ability to work as part of a team. Good Communication and interpersonal skills Able to use own initiative. Able to adapt and respond to changing requirements.

Location.

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane with at least 3 days a week spent in the office.
