Role Overview: The Safety Advisor will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of all staff, including third-party personnel, working in areas with electrical risks or classified as operational under the Company's Distribution Safety Rules. This role primarily involves acting as the "Safety Person" and holding the relevant Company System Authority Code.


Key Responsibilities:


Supervision and Safety Management:

Provide personal supervision of any "unauthorised" staff, including third-party personnel, in areas with electrical risks. Ensure all staff adhere to safety protocols and guidelines as defined by the Company's Distribution Safety Rules. Act as a non-working member of the working party, focusing solely on safety supervision.

Authorisation and Documentation:

Be authorised to receive and clear Company Safety Documents. Hold the relevant Company System Authority Code for this role, as specified in Part 3, Section 4 of the Technical Specification.

Experience and Knowledge:

Have sufficient experience and knowledge of the works being carried out, particularly in open bus-bar compounds. Provide safety advice, guidance, and instruction to staff, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Leadership and Example Setting:

Demonstrate exemplary behaviour by wearing appropriate PPE, maintaining self-discipline, good housekeeping, and adequate record-keeping. Manage time effectively and ensure all safety protocols are followed.

Staff Supervision:

The number of staff supervised will vary based on work activity, experience of working party members, and site layout. Follow any restrictions or amendments to working methods or supervision arrangements as detailed by the Authorised/Senior Authorised Person.

Qualifications



Authorisation:

Must be authorised to be present in operational areas and handle Company Safety Documents. Must hold the relevant Company System Authority Code.

Experience:

Proven experience working in open bus-bar compounds. Ability to control staff and provide effective safety guidance and instruction.

Skills:

Strong leadership and communication skills. Excellent time management and record-keeping abilities. Commitment to maintaining high safety standards and setting a positive example.
